Ilya Vyacheslavovich Ilyin

Dean of the Faculty of Global Processes at Moscow State University (elected by the Academic Council of Moscow State University in 2012, acting dean since 2007); Head of the Department of Global Studies, FGP Moscow State University (since 2008); Doctor of Political Science (since 2011), Chairman of the Executive Committee of the International Consortium Global Studies (2012-2013 and 2017-2018).


Research interests: theoretical and methodological foundations of global studies, global studies, including studies of globalization and global problems of our time; the concept of global evolutionism and the model of globalization through sustainable development; political problems of international relations, history and current state of youth social movements, state youth policy. He actively participates in the development of such new scientific areas as evolutionary global studies and global ecology. Author of the classification of global processes, systems and problems; works on refining the modern scientific picture of the world, taking into account the factors of global development as a set of co-evolving global processes and systems.

In 1998 he graduated with honors from the Faculty of Geology of Moscow State University. In 1999 he defended his master’s thesis in paleontology. In 2004, based on the results of defending a Ph.D. thesis, she was awarded the degree of Candidate of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences. He worked in the administration of Moscow State University as a deputy head of department (2002–2005). In 2008, he underwent retraining in the specialty “Political Science”. In 2008 he was awarded the academic title of Associate Professor of the Department of Sociology and Political Science. Since 2009 he has been working as a professor. In 2011, she was awarded the degree of Doctor of Political Science.

He served as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the International Consortium Global Studies (2012-2013).

Editor-in-Chief of the scientific journal “Bulletin of Moscow University. Series XXVII. Global Studies and Geopolitics” (since 2011); member of the editorial boards of a number of other scientific journals, among them: “The Age of Globalization: A Study of Modern Global Processes”, “Geopolitics and Security”, “Journal of Globalization Studies” and others.

Member of the Academic Council of Moscow State University (since 1997); full member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences (since 2011) and the Russian Ecological Academy (since 2014); initiator of the creation and Chief Scientific Secretary of the International Academy of Global Studies (since 2015).

Author of more than 250 scientific papers, including 10 monographs (among the most important: “Theoretical and Methodological Foundations of Global Studies”, “Evolutionary Global Studies: the Concept of the Evolution of Global Processes”, “Modeling the Nonlinear Dynamics of Global Processes”, “Global Geopolitics”, “Global Studies in context of political processes”, “Global Evolutionism: Ideas, Problems, Hypotheses”, “Theory and Practice of Political Globalistics”, “Global Studies and Evolutionary Approach”), 5 textbooks (among the most important: “Introduction to Global Ecology”, “Introduction to paleoglobalistics”, “Global socio-natural processes and systems”), editor-in-chief and compiler of the encyclopedic reference book “Globalistics: personalities, organizations, publications”, as well as the author of a number of popular science books, dictionaries and numerous articles.

Initiator of the periodic International Scientific Congresses “Globalistics” (2009, 2011, 2013, 2015, 2017). Reads a number of academic courses, including “Introduction to Global Studies and International Relations”, “Current Issues in Global Studies”, etc.; is one of the developers of a number of new educational programs, including “Political Global Studies”, “Global Natural Processes”, “Evolutionary Global Studies”, etc.

He devoted a lot of time to public work, heading the student and youth organizations of Moscow State University, the Russian Union of Students, the Eurasian Student Association. Since 2013, he has been the President of the International Public Organization for the Promotion of Public Diplomacy, Scientific, Educational and Youth Cooperation “Eurasian Commonwealth”. Initiator of the largest in the CIS International Youth Scientific Forum “Lomonosov” (since 1994). From 2004 to 2013, he headed the Laboratory of Educational Technologies and Youth Policy, created by the decision of the Academic Council of Moscow State University. In 2012–2015 – Chairman of the EMC in the direction of “Organization of work with youth”, since 2014 – President of the Association of Youth Workers. Honorary Worker of the State Youth Policy (2010).
